This is my very small and sweet Paris hotel, Hotel du Pas de Calais, on the Left Bank; and tonight is my fourth and last night here. I'll miss the window-shopping, since I am surrounded here by very high-end designer shops. Tomorrow I move to a different part of Paris, for three more nights.

This is my fifth visit to Paris, and each time I have stayed in a different district, gotten to know a different neighborhood.

But this is the first time I've been here alone. I miss Martin. He'd hate the window-shopping though. (I mis-typed that at first, and it said widow-shopping. Freud? Explain that, please?)

Dear Ms. Lowry. My name is Leilani Lowry. I'm writing to say hi - I was a huge fan of yours when I was young. You were coming to a library near my school (I must've been in 6th grade?) and I was SO excited to see you and get your autograph. I got strep throat the day my class was going to meet you and I was devastated. My mom felt bad for me (I was crying and so sad) and she ended up taking me to the library herself so that I could have you sign my books (Anastasia Again and Us and Uncle Fred). I felt very special that I got to see you even though I was sick :) I am now 37 with 2 girls of my own (ages 6 and 8) and I still have the signed books. I ended up marrying a Lowry (funny!) and my girls have heard the story over and over about the day I met you when I was sick. I just wanted to share with you that you've been a part of my life for almost 3 decades! I look forward to my girls reading the signed books. Take care,

Leilani
